Not every homeowner makes replacing their HVAC air filters a priority. If you choose to go on their way, your furnace filter can become incredibly clogged with unwanted allergen particles, your system can no longer keep your home as comfortable, indoor air quality suffers and energy bills will be higher every month. Your air filter plays an important role in almost every aspect of your system, capturing dust particles, pollen, and other small matter within your home.
How often you should change your air filter? It depends on numerous factors, including how often your system is in use, are you living with little children, do you have anyone suffering from an allergy in your home, are you living near industrial sites, do you have any pet in your home? Generally, air filter needs to be replaced every 3 months, but in any of the above conditions, Merv Filters LLC recommends changing filters every month or two.
